3rd Faculty Development Program on Structural Equation Modeling

Why attend a FDP at TAPMI?

The T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) is one among the management Institutes with the globally coveted AACSB accreditation. This mandates every faculty of TAPMI to publish in reputed peer reviewed journals. Publication has been a focus area of TAPMI for several years now. We are among the top business schools for publication in India. TAPMI has 50 PhD faculty and nurtures research big time.

This program is TAPMI’s commitment to extent its expertise in paper publications to other management institutes to facilitate career development of the faculty in other institutes as also help the institutions set higher benchmark for publication and to embark upon procuring the coveted AACSB accreditation.

Why Structured Equation Modelling (SEM)?

Consider a situation where a series of dependent-independent relationships are examined simultaneously or a situation where the validity of the measure has to be established. These situations are typical in research in most disciplines like psychology, marketing, organizational and information systems research. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) provides you the power to analyze such situations. In research publications use of SEM is considered to be the epitome of rigor.

Why RStudio?

Several software packages exist for fitting structural equation models like LISREL, Mplus, Mx, EQS and Amos. However either they are not easy to use; and even if you are determined to master its complexity, the cost of the software would be too high to fit the pocket of the institute with adequate number of licenses for entire faculty. What if you have open source software which is easy to use and available to everyone on an individual basis which you can use at will whenever you require? What if you can help teach it to your students? Would you prefer to install it in your laptop and use it at will rather than depend on expensive propriety software? This is the logic for our swinging to R.

Learning Outcomes of the Program

The Programme shall be carried out in a workshop mode using hands on lab sessions with valid data sets and RStudio. After attending the program, the participant will be able to

1. Create structural and measurement models using RStudio
2. Determine the reliability and validity of the constructs
3. Analyze the structural relationships between the constructs
4. Integrate and post the results of the analysis appropriately in a research paper

Who should subscribe to this Program

  • Faculty Members who dream of publishing.
  • Faculty members who dream of teaching analysis using an open source powerful analytical tool which every student can have for free so that they can analyze any situation at any time.
  • Research Scholars who wish to have seamless access to a tool anytime and anywhere.

Prerequisites

An open mind and willingness to learn is all that we look for.
