At TAPMI, every student is encouraged to explore multiple perspectives, find their passion and pursue their dreams. It is with this vision that the Literary Conclave of TAPMI, Meraki, organized by the Literary & Media (LiMe) Committee, was conceived.
Meraki is a Greek word that translates to “the soul, creativity or love that one puts into one’s work”. Staying true to the essence of the word, the event Meraki encourages its participants to render soulful expressions of their artistic and creative pursuits. The pilot edition of the event, Meraki 2018, was spread across two days, and was termed as a rejuvenating experience by attendees and guests alike.
The conclave aims to be a unique and immersive experience bringing together writers, readers, comedians, performers and artistes together on a common platform. An array of events catering to various interests are conducted, such as interactions and roundtables with the guests, open mic events, exhibitions, debates, poetry slams and so on.
The premier edition of the event, driven by the theme, “Wings to your creativity”, hosted renowned speakers including Ms. Shinie Antony (Co-founder, Bangalore Literature Fest), Mr. Bharat Nayak (Editorial Director at the Logical Indian) and Mr. Arun Shanbhag (CIO, Manipal University). Other prominent guests included celebrated artists like Mr. Sankha Banerjee (Graphic Illustrator and Visual artist), Mr. Yahya Bootwala (Poet, Storyteller and Youtube sensation), “The Anonymous Writer” team (from India’s largest multi-lingual storytelling platform) and Ms. Thejo Menon (Artist and Associate Professor for Art & Design at JBAS College for Women). The event also hosted workshops, quizzes and competitions, which drew enthusiastic participation from the students.
