Dr. Sarthak Agarwal holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from IIM Lucknow and a B. Com (Hons.) degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. He has also cleared all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, CFA Institute, US. Before transitioning to academia, he worked in management consulting and banking for three years.
Dr. Agarwal uses applied microeconomic methods to establish causal linkages in areas of public policy relevance in developing countries. His current research explores topics such as intimate partner violence, family planning and fertility, the intergenerational transmission of health burdens, and the role of governance in economic growth. His work has been published in journals such as The European Journal of Development Research and Review of Development Economics. He has presented his research at leading international conferences organized by the Royal Economic Society, the European Economic Association, and the Asian Development Bank.
