Manish Kumar Atree is a Faculty Associate in TAPMI Bengaluru campus and pursuing his Ph.D. in Finance and Control at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. His research primarily focuses on financial markets, cryptocurrencies, fintech, digital payment adoption, and time series analysis. His doctoral thesis examines the response and interrelationship between cryptocurrencies and financial assets through empirical investigation.

He has published and presented his work in reputed international platforms. His paper “Cryptocurrency research: Bibliometric review and content analysis” appeared in the International Review of Economics and Finance (ABDC-A, SCOPUS Q1). He has also presented his research work at the India Finance Conference (2023), the International Conference on Sustainability, Environment, and Social Transition in Economics and Finance (University of Southampton, 2023), and the SEBF Conference at IIT Bombay, among others. His ongoing research spans cryptocurrency–financial asset connectedness, investor behaviour in digital assets, and regulatory challenges in cryptocurrency adoption.

Before joining IIM Shillong, Mr. Atree gained extensive industry experience in finance and auditing. He worked as a Finance Executive at BLA Udyog Pvt. Ltd., where he streamlined working capital management and tax compliance, and as Senior Audit Manager at KASG & Co., where he contributed to the roll-out of accrual accounting in Indian Railways and led statutory audits for major institutions. His earlier auditing career included extensive assignments for Coal India subsidiaries, detecting significant financial discrepancies and strengthening compliance systems.

At IIM Shillong, he has served as a Teaching Assistant and Tutorial Facilitator in finance courses, consistently receiving excellent student feedback. His teaching philosophy emphasizes integrating theory with practice, making finance accessible and engaging across disciplines.
