TAPMI MBA-HRM – MBA in Human Resource Management

Master of Business Administration – Human Resource Management (MBA-HRM)

About the program:

The MBA-HRM curriculum draws on industry consultations and combines a compulsory HR Generalist foundation with major–minor pathways in HR Tech and HR Consulting.

  1. Industry-relevant workshops: Competency Mapping and Assessment Centers connect role requirements with talent assessment and development. Total Reward Management examines pay structures, benefits and performance-linked rewards. Design Thinking in HR develops problem diagnosis and solution design. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion addresses inclusive workplace practices, while Personal Financial Management builds financial awareness.
  2. Emerging HR capabilities: Digital Transformation in HR, AI & ML in HR, Gamification in HR, and Advanced HR Visualization and Storytelling with Data strengthen digital capability. HR Consulting courses include Employee Experience & Lifecycle Management, Employer Branding & Value Proposition, HR Business Partnering, and Managing Workplace Social Networks.
  3. Behavioural depth and leadership: Organizational Behaviour progresses from individuals to groups and organization design and development. The Leadership Assessment and Development Centre (LADC), anchored in the HROBC area, supports self-awareness and leadership development. MBA-HRM students also have the opportunity to serve as Associate Advisors for LADC, gaining practical experience in supporting psychometric assessment and report preparation.
  4. Learning through application: Industry-relevant workshops, summer internships, live-project opportunities, industrial visits and SEVA (Society, Environment, Values and Attitudes) connect learning with organizational and social contexts. Integrative case analysis and workplace diagnosis and action plans link HR solutions to performance. The student-led HR Forum provides opportunities for peer learning, discussion of contemporary HR issues and student leadership.

Industry Relevance:

TAPMI’s MBA-HRM prepares students to connect people decisions with business performance. Its program outcome, “Enable People Performance,” emphasizes creating HR solutions that enhance employee effectiveness and organizational outcomes, with attention to workplace context and stakeholder needs.

The curriculum responds to capabilities identified through recruiter job descriptions, placement-role analysis, advisory-board inputs and industry consultation. A common HR Generalist foundation supports preparation across talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, rewards, and employee relations. Industrial relations and labour laws feature in the first year, strengthening domain understanding before the summer internship.

HR Tech and HR Consulting pathways build preparation for digital HR, people analytics, human capital management systems, business partnering and people advisory roles. Coursework in employee experience, employer branding, workplace wellbeing and sustainable HRM addresses talent attraction, retention and responsible people management. HR metrics, dashboards and data storytelling help students interpret evidence and communicate recommendations.

These capabilities are relevant across IT and IT-enabled services, consulting, manufacturing, banking and financial services, healthcare, and HR technology enterprises. Workshops, internships and industry engagement connect academic learning with practical challenges such as assessing talent, designing rewards, improving HR processes and managing organizational change.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

TAPMI’s MBA-HRM is suited to graduates and early-career professionals who want to build a career in managing people and improving organizational effectiveness. Candidates from varied academic backgrounds can contribute valuable perspectives, with a willingness to connect behavioural understanding with business knowledge, quantitative reasoning and digital fluency.

The ideal candidate is curious about how people and organizations work, enjoys examining workplace problems, and can balance empathy with evidence and sound judgement. Clear communication, integrity, respect for diverse perspectives and openness to feedback are important. Students should be willing to engage with data, technology, labour and employment issues, and the business implications of HR decisions.

The program appeals to those interested in HR business partnering, talent acquisition and development, reward management, employee relations, people analytics, HR technology or consulting. Experience through employment, internships, student leadership or volunteering can enrich classroom learning.

Applicants should be ready for case discussions, teamwork, practical workshops and reflective learning. A motivation to design HR solutions that improve employee effectiveness while supporting organizational goals aligns closely with the program’s emphasis on enabling people performance.
