Biography

  • Simon George is presently the Dean- Academics of TAPMI. He is also a Professor in the area of Marketing. Joined TAPMI in 1991. He was the Dean Academics, when TAPMI got the AACSB accreditation in 2012 and the reaccreditation in 2017. He was also the architect of the Health care management programme of TAPMI, which was launched in 2010. He has about 32 years of teaching experience. He also had worked in the electronics component industry for about 3 years, before getting into academics.

Teaching

  • He teaches courses like Marketing, Brand Management and Services Marketing. He was one of the first to offer Services Marketing as a full-fledged course in any b-school in the country in 1994. He is also credited with offering Blue Ocean Strategy as a full-fledged course with the support of a Simulation game called BOSS, for the first time, in any b-school in India in 2011. He has taught a full Marketing course for a semester in Oakland University, Detroit, Michigan, US . He is the architect of an experiential course called Brand Scan, which is a combination of a fair and market research, which was started in 1993.

Research

  • He is a reviewer of articles for the prestigious American Marketing Association (AMA) conferences. His cases have been published in Vikalpa – Journal of IIM Ahmedabad. He has brought out 3 research compendiums;

    a. Research compendium on “Scanning Brands” in 2006.

    b. Research compendium on “Mapping Brands and the Market” in 2007.

    c. Research compendium on “Technology and Process in Services marketing” in 2009.

  • He is a Professional Member of the American Marketing Association. He has attended several national and international workshops, seminars and conferences. He has undergone training programme in Case method of teaching and Writing at Harvard Business School, Boston. He regularly conducts training programmmes for practicing managers. He has conducted several Executive Education Programmes in Marketing for companies like Ashok Leyland Ltd, Infosys, Jindal Steel, ECE elevators, Corporation bank, Syndicate bank, ICICI, Oracle, Piaggio, and Indian Oil etc.

Awards

  • He was awarded as the Best Marketing professor by Dainik Bhaskar National Education Leadership Awards 2013.
