Biography

  • Dr Raghunath Rudran holds a B Tech in Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur (1979-1984). He followed this up with completing a PGDRM (Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management), from IRMA, Anand (1984-1986). He then commenced his career with Karnataka Cooperative Oilseeds Growers Federations Limited. Later, he joined General Manager in Galaxy Surfactants Limited, Mumbai. He worked in various capacities such as Production Manager, and Senior Manager- Projects, becoming a General Manager at Galaxy Surfactants Limited. He has extensive experience at project stage of chemical plants, commissioning them and running them (totalling fifteen years. He joined TAPMI for commencing an academic career, in July 2002, and has now completed 18 years in TAPMI, as well as in academics.

  • He obtained a Ph D from Manipal University in 2015.
  • At TAPMI, he has held administrative positions such as Chairman-Placement, Chairman-PGP, Associate Dean-Administration, and Dean Administration. Currently he is Professor & Dean-Research – RPC (Research Promotion Committee), as well as PhD Programme Head.

Teaching

  • At TAPMI, he currently regularly teaches courses in the Operations & Information Sciences Area, such as Operations Management and Advanced Inventory & Lean Management. In the past, he has taught courses such as Descriptive Statistics, Supply Chain Management, etc. He also has basic courses in the area of Ethics, such as Ethical Decision Making.
  • He has conducted one day course modules for junior and mid-level executives at L&T Institute of Project Management (Vadodara as well as Mysore) on many occasions. The modules were “Descriptive Statistics for Project Managers/Quantitative Toolkit for Project Managers” at Vadodara, and “Project Management and Network Techniques for Graduate Engineer Trainees” at Mysore. Across the years, he had also taught executives from MRPL, HP, etc. under different programs of TAPMI.

Research

  • His research interests are in the area of Service Operations Management, particularly customer contact and Technology Generated Customer contact.
