Annual Convocation 2009 – Address by Chief Guest Mr. V K Viswanathan
The twenty third annual convocation of the T A Pai Management Institute Manipal was held on Wednesday April 8, 2009 at its new sprawling campus at Manipal. Mr V K Viswanathan Managing Director, Bosch Limited, Bangalore was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. A total of 107 Post Graduate Diplomas in Management were awarded to the students. The chief Guest in his address to the congregation, extolled the virtues of honesty, reliability, longevity and quick decisions as the sina quo non for the graduating students to succeed in their corporate life. Earlier, presiding over the function, Padma Bhushan Dr M S Valiathan, eminent Cardiac surgeon and Member of the TAPMI Governing Council traced the growth of TAPMI during the last 25 years. Dr Saji Gopinath, Director, in his annual report recalled the various recognitions that its Faculty , Staff and Students received during the year. Mr H Shantaram, Member Governing Council, released TAPMI’s research compendium and conference proceedings.
Many parents of graduating students apart from a galaxy of invitees graced the function. Dr A S Vasudev Rao, introduced the Chief Guest and Prof. Rajiv Shah compered the programme.
Pankaj Saria won many medals for his academic achievements. Other medal winners were Karthik, Dr Vandana Garg, Avani Sharad Vyas, Mangala Subramaniam and Sarika Iyer. Karthik was awarded the AgrEvo award for his outstanding academic and overall achievements. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Satyajit Majumdar and National Anthem.
