Atharva, the annual international B School Fest of TAPMI has always been a quest to reach greater heights through the implementation of newer ideas and innovations. What began as HILL FEST in the year 1986 as an intra-TAPMI event transformed for the first time into an inter-B school fest - SUMMIT in the year 1996. The radical change came through in the year 2002, when Summit was transformed to its current majestic avatar – ATHARVA!
T. A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal conducted its annual international B-school fest, Atharva 2014 on the 31st of January and the 1st of February 2014. The theme for the 27th edition of Atharva was ‘Transcending Boundaries’.
TAPMI Atharva had conducted a marathon Run for a Cause, in association with MARD – Men Against Rape and Discrimination, an initiative by movie actor and social activist Farhan Akhtar, on the 26th of January 2014, as a prelude to the event. Over 416 participants from various colleges in Manipal had registered for the event.
Atharva 2014 was inaugurated by Ms Anita Tripathy, President, Inventiv Health.
Polemic, the socio-corporate debate followed. The panel consisted of industry stalwarts; Ms Anita Tripathy, Dr. K Sankaran, Director-Business School NITTE, Ms. Malavika Harita, CEO-Saatchi & Saatchi Focus Network India and Mr. Sarathbabu Elumalai, CEO Foodking. Polemic was moderated by the Director of TAPMI – Dr. R C Natarajan. The topic for the 6th edition of Polemic was “Inclusions vs. Excellence: Is society relevant?”
Sankalp, the 26 year old B-plan competition conducted by TAPMI, gave a platform to the young management students with entrepreneurial passion to showcase their business acumen. For the first time the winners of Sankalp were given the golden opportunity of being mentored and guided by a special expert panel after being evaluated by venture capitalists.
Atharva also conducted InFINity, the event for the finance whiz and Make Your Mark which tested the marketing acumen of the participants.
Atharva also provides a platform to unwind. Xpressions presented Vibes, a forum for the dancers to put their best foot forward. Blitzkrieg, the dance team from Manipal Institute of Technology, came down to the TAPMI’s hill top campus for a face-off with the Tapmi Street Steppers.
The curtains of TAPMI Atharva 2014 were drawn after the flagship event - Quiz on the Beach (QOTB). QOTB had over 700 students participating from all geographies. Colleges like IIM Indore, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) , Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies(NMIMS) , National Institute of Industrial Engineering(NITIE), IIT Madras , IIM Bangalore , NIT Suratkal , Wichita State University, San Diego State University, National University of Singapore , ESCP Europe, BITS PILANI DUBAI, University of Houston, etc vied for the prizes worth Rs 13 lakhs!
TAPMI Atharva 2014 witnessed a healthy competition from all participants and fruitful interaction among the students of the various colleges. Atharva was not just a B-school fest, but an experience for the students who entered a new world of exuberance, knowledge sharing and undiluted fun. The motto “Strive to Seek” has embedded in the participants, a passion to scale to greater heights.
