About Social Endeavour Group
The Social Endeavours Group of TAPMI which believes in “Giving it back to the society” mantra was established with the vision of equipping students with practical knowledge about social work, social welfare and development concerns of the poor, and to help them develop skills and insights into working with people at the individual, group and community levels and network with other groups and professionals working on similar issues.
This student committee has been working towards achieving this goal through its activities and events and encouraging student volunteers to take part in various social work activities carried out at Manipal and Udupi.
Activities of the Social Endeavour Group
Joyfest is a nationwide movement to observe the “Joy of giving Week” held from September 26 to October 2. As a part of this movement SEG had conducted donation drives and fine arts classes for orphan children.
Students at TAPMI strongly believe in Henry Ford’s words which said - "Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success." Hence, as a part of this initiative, students volunteer to teach at the local schools.
SEG regularly organize lectures on English grammar and communication skills for 8th, 9th and 10th std with the help of student volunteers at Rajiv Nagar School. SEG has also established library facilities at Rajiv Nagar School.
NGO Case Study “Sahyog”
“Sahyog” is an inter-college social case-study contest held during Atharva. The case study is based on a real life situation faced by an NGO. SAHAYOG is a game which gives participants an opportunity to put all their managerial skills into play and orchestrate a turnaround for an NGO which operates under severe constraints.
Social Street Play “Nukkad”
“Nukkad” is a street play event on social issues. Participants portray social issues with their acting skills. The event aims at creating awareness amongst the students about the various issues faced by the youth today.
SEG also plays a very active role in arranging blood donation drives, conducting sessions on adolescent education at local schools and career counselling for students from the backward sections of the society.
