MISSION

• To assist entrepreneurs in improving their business by applying management concepts.
•  To provide a platform for sharing the spirit of Entrepreneurship.
•  To facilitate implementation of new business ideas.

ABOUT US

• OMEGA can take the credit for supporting / partnering with small and medium scale enterprises, small traders who are in and around Manipal, Udupi and Mangalore in enabling them to strive towards excellence in their business. Entrepreneurs approach OMEGA with their problems or projects and OMEGAns (Student Members) solve their problem or help them in growing their business. A nominal fee for consulting is charged; which makes OMEGA the only earning forum of TAPMI. It provides a platform for interaction between students and local entrepreneurs.
• In this process, students get an exposure to the industry and also the problems faced by the industry LIVE. The students also seek guidance from the faculty members for solving the issues. The knowledge of the students is not just limited to academics. More than 70% of the students at TAPMI are with work experience in diverse fields such as Consulting, Information Technology, FMCG, Supply Chain, Retail, Heavy Engineering, Chemical and much more. The combined knowledge of academics, work experience and the expertise of the faculties are the key factors which add value to the solutions OMEGA provides. The projects undertaken by OMEGA ranges from various operational issues to strategic decisions.
• TAPMI's intellectual spent for the growth and development of the SME's in the region is also playing a huge role in building the TAPMI brand.

Some of the other activities undertaken by the committee are as follows:

DEFI: An entrepreneurial game, where teams compete with each other by running an innovative and sustainable venture for three days. At the end of it, the students gain firsthand experience in running a business. Each team participating in the contest is required to come up with a business proposal which they plan to implement during the event. The teams are required to give a cost estimate along with their proposal. Eight teams are shortlisted by faculty members on the basis of the feasibility and innovativeness of the contest.

OMEGA acts a venture capitalist and assists the shortlisted team by providing the necessary seed capital in return for a share in the teams profit.

On the day of the event, all the teams put their concept into practice and try to make profits out of their ideas. While the aim of the each team is to earn profits; in doing so, they also learn how to manage their business effectively. They learn various functional attributes of a business like sales, marketing, promotion and finance as well.

Face to Face: Omega invites successful entrepreneurs and business leaders to share their knowledge and experience with the batch. It provides an opportunity for the students of TAPMI to interact with them.

Sourcing Projects for MIP Phase I: We source projects for the students of PGP I to complete their MIP Phase I. It involves 3 day visit to a small / medium scale manufacturing industry in and around Manipal. The purpose of this activity is to enable the students understand and appreciate the efforts an entrepreneur puts in for building and running a business.
