The national e-Governance Plan is a bold step that aims to place India among the top nations in providing online services to citizens. The Government envisages a significant role for the private sector (consulting and IT organizations) in taking forward the various Misson Mode Projects that comprise the NeGP. The key challenge, however, is an acute shortage of professionals – both in the public and private sectors – who conceptualize, develop, implement and maintain MMPs.
