17 participants have successfully completed the 2nd eGovernance Program for Executives [eGPX]. This batch of eGPX received the Post Graduate Diploma in eGovernance from Manipal University at the MU Convocation on Saturday, 12 November, 2011.
Batch 2010-11: The batch had 17 participants—12 from the Government sector and 5 from the Private sector. The Govt. sector candidates received 100% sponsorship from the Central Govt. [Dept. of Information & Technology] and the respective State Govts. Most of these candidates were Government Officers who were expected to go back to their states to lead and/or contribute to the eGovernance initiatives being taken there. The private sector candidates were professionals form the IT sector, some with prior exposure to eGovernance. The overall experience of the batch ranged from 5 to 23 years.
Program: The participants completed course work in eGovernance Concepts, Information Technology and Management & Public Administration at the Foundation stage. They were sent to study existing eGovernance projects and understand the challenges. The next phase of the program was the Elective stage, during which each participant had to choose 7 elective subjects from courses in eGovernance, IT, and Management. After this came the last phase: 18-week internship with organizations that are working in the eGovernance domain.
Internship and convocation: The participants worked in IBM, PwC and Wipro in the private sector and the State eMission Teams [SeMT] in the government sector during the internship period. They returned to TAPMI campus on Oct. 31 for the final presentation and submission of internship reports. The program was concluded on Nov. 3 and the convocation was held on Nov. 12. The top 3 rank holders received gold, silver and Bronze medals from TAPMI.
Placement: Candidates have been placed with PwC, KPMG and SeMT Maharashtra. NISG is also expected to make a couple of offers soon. The state governments [Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat] have also recognized the value of the program and several candidates will be given advanced responsibilities [having completed this program successfully].
