The summer placement process of the flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme at T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) witnessed an encouraging participation by the industry. In the summer placement season the batch of 296 students were offered 310 offers from over 80 companies representing varied industries.
Participation from a diversified set of industries was the highlight of the 2012-13 summer placement season. Banking and Financial Services Industry (BFSI) took the lead by offering 18% of the total offers; this despite the subdued economic environment manifests the strong preference that TAPMI has in the industry. Tata Capital, Anand Rathi, State Bank of India, Central Bank of India, and BSE were the major BFSI recruiters.
Manufacturing, IT/ITES, E-Business were the other major recruiting industries. Tata Steel, UB Group,
IMACs, Jaipur Rugs were among the companies that renewed their ties with the institute. Deloitte, Dr.Reddy's further cemented their relationship by offering internship roles for the first time.
Marketing/Sales continue to be a favourite among the students with over 50% of students accepting these profiles. Flipkart, Britannia, MSD (Merck Sharpe and Dohme), Abbott, VigyanLabs Innovations were some of the new recruiters offering marketing profiles. Perfetti Van Melle, Emami, iCreate Software and Saatchi & Saatchi were among the recruiters who continued with their unwavering support to TAPMI.
Finance, HR and Operations roles continued to be strongly favoured by the students. Frost & Sullivan, Exim Bank, NDTV, Reliance Entertainment, BASF, Renault-Nissan were some of the prominent names offering these roles. Consulting and Systems profiles were also offered. Globelink Weststar Shipping LLC, Dubai offered international operations profile to the students.
Association with Karnataka Police
In 2012, TAPMI initiated a relationship with Karnataka State Police Department under the leadership of Mr. Prathap Reddy, IPS – IGP, Eastern Range. Under the association, about 10 students have taken up challenging projects in operations, marketing and finance domains to map and streamline processes with an aim to bring greater efficiencies in the department's functioning. This association is aligned to TAPMI's long-held belief in experiential learning and holistic concern for ethics and society.
