Infrastructure facilities at TAPMI:

In early 2009, its 25th year running, TAPMI took a landmark step in its history by shifting its operations to a new scenic, sprawling 42-acre residential green campus in Manipal, which was officially opened by President of India in 2010. Located on the side of a hillock and overlooking a valley filled with verdant tropical greenery, this campus provides an ideal setting for serious academic study and creativity, combined with entertainment and relaxation.

The new facility, which was developed at a cost of about Rs. 60 crores (US $ 12 million) includes a built up area of over 3, 00, 000 sq. ft. to house modern, state-of-the-art, Wi-Fi-enabled, air-conditioned classrooms for students, plush offices for faculty and staff, a knowledge centre, a computer centre, a student’s centre, hostels for men and women, and residences for faculty and staff. The student’s centre is home to a canteen, a gym, yoga and meditation room, a mini open-air theatre and a convenience store.

These facilities available in the campus are mentioned below in brief.


TAPMI’s new facility has about 16 different classrooms with seating capacities ranging from 60 students to 90 students. The classrooms are all air conditioned and specially designed for interactive participation, with executive-style seating and furniture. Although the entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, each desk is also equipped with a LAN port for cable-enabled internet access. Each classroom is also equipped with equipment for projection facilities to enable presentations, and video-based and audio-based sessions. Some of the classrooms also provide video-conferencing facilities.

Classroom space at the Institute is adequate for not only the PGDM program, but also sufficient to accommodate several simultaneous training and executive education programs, when required. 


The new facility has Board room, Conference rooms with Video Conferencing Facilities and also has a Amphi theater in the Campus. There are seminar halls that can seat upto 500 persons.  All these are equipped with video screen, speakers and microphones.



The library is housed in a centrally air-conditioned three floored independent building having plinth area of about 12,500 sq. ft. with a seating capacity of 120 users. It is open for long hours on working days and open on Sundays too. It has a rich collection of Print and electronic resources. The print collection includes Books, periodicals, Project reports, working papers and Annual reports of major limited companies.

The electronic resources include Audio/Video Cassettes, CDs/DVDs and on-line/offline  databases such as EBSCO’s business source Complete, Proquest’s ABI Inform global, ISI Emerging Markets, CRISIL's Industry Analysis, NCTI’s trade-info, CMIE’s Prowess, CapEx & EIS. The membership subscriptions include, DELNET, McKinsey Quarterly and American Information Resource Centre, Chennai.

ICT.JPGTAPMI firmly believes in the maximal use and full leveraging of Information and Communication Technology in all spheres of its activities.  Faculty and students are actively encouraged to use state of the art technologies in teaching, learning, research, and allied academic endeavours.  To facilitate this, TAPMI has built a world class ICT infrastructure comprising of high quality hardware, software and communication systems, over the past decade.

The institute provides very premium configuration along with LAN connections (both wired and wireless), in addition to 24/7 Internet connectivity.  These computers are networked via high-end blade servers and managed switches.   In addition to the laptop hardware, data loss prevention software has been provided. Anti-virus, port locker, permanent file eraser, PC reporter (asset tagging, tracking and early warning locate laptop) and other database software’s with are advanced features are equipped in the laptop.

Two ISPs together deliver a total bandwidth of 16 MBPS (1:1);  this bandwidth ably supports the various services offered such as email, browsing, access to vital databases (online  as well as in-LAN), and several other resources on the institute’s intranet.  The institute has put in place Video-Conferencing facilities at its Manipal as well as Bangalore (TAPMI-CEE) centers – both IP-based and via ISDN.  These facilities are used for class room functioning, group meetings, and virtual and interactive lectures and discussions.  Facilities such as laser printers, DVD writers and scanners are also available for peripheral support.

The institute has three Computer labs, One exclusively for Examination lab and as a systems lab, a digital library, ten class rooms with full ICT support, three hostel blocks having LAN connected PCs, amply enrich its academic machinery.  Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) equipment and two diesel generators provide electric power in the event of power failure.   Internet at TAPMI is a state-of-the-art facility provided at all corners of the academic block and student housing. The service has been a result of special efforts from three major corporate houses in the country providing services: TATA, BSNL and ION. ICT has been effectively deployed at TAPMI for administrative functions too.

The canteen counter is open from 8.00 am to 9.30 pm daily and provides a variety of snacks and refreshments at nominal prices.  The mess, primarily catering to the students in residence, operates at fixed timings and provides Breakfast: 7.30 am – 9.30 am; Lunch: 12.00 noon – 2.00 pm; Tea: 4.30 pm – 6.00 pm and Dinner: 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm. The canteen and mess are located in the Student Center.


hostel.JPGTAPMI’s new campus has two hostels for men and one for women.  The hostels have been designed keeping in mind the students’ requirements for rigorous study accompanied by soothing relaxation.  Each room has an attached bathroom and 24-hour hot water facility supported by solar heating.  All the hostels have lifts, back-up power and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity.

There are separate hostels for men  and Women. These hostels have double rooms, single rooms, A/c and Non A/c rooms. The capacities of the hostels are adequate for accommodating the students and a few rooms have also been converted to accommodate guests. At present, students in the second year of the PGP program can opt for a single room.


All faculty members and staff are provided with Individual landline connection with STD facility. This facility is being provided through BSNL and all the Internal calls are free.


TAPMI has an integrated laundry service provider in the campus. The campus services include washing, drying and ironing. At request, even dry-cleaning is also done. Students, Faculty and staff can utilize their services. The hostels also are provided with automatic washing machines and several iron boards and irons. The facility is manned by skilled employees with a supervisor.


TAPMI has a permanent health centre, for faculty, staff, students who need medical attention. It acts as a small infirmary, which has some essential equipment with First Aid kit and medicines and a Doctor. 24 hour assistance available. The Health Centre also houses a range of important and essential drugs and medicine which can be administered to any student who is in need.  Not only that all the Faculty, Staff and Students are covered under Medi claim facility from Kasturba /Manipal Hospitals.


The campus has a convenience store at the student center where items of daily needs and snacks, refreshments and other items are sold.


Both the Academic Block (classrooms, library, faculty rooms, gymnasium, health center, ATM etc.) and the entire Student Residence (student rooms, common rooms, dining halls etc.) are centrally air-conditioned.  The bathrooms in students housing are also fitted with geysers for hot waters in winters.


Students, who have to go out in the city for buying usual household items etc., are normally provided with a cab which takes them for their errand and returns back to the Institute. This ensures absolute safety of students who stay away from their homes.


The campus is guarded by around 30 guards all the time. Institute also has Warden/Asst. Warden round the clock inside the campus. The guards are placed on all important locations and access points in the campus. . The whole campus is fenced.


The Institute has contracts with Master Staffing Solutions, one of the largest facility management service providers for housekeeping and other services in manipal. This ensures that the TAPMI is kept hygienic and clean round the clock.


Syndicate Bank has set up its Extension counter and an ATM in the campus. This ATM is captive in nature and is prohibited to outsiders. This way, Institute has maintained its exclusivity in provision of services to students, faculty and staff.


The Institute is equipped with all modern technologies in all its classrooms for audio and video systems. All classrooms are equipped with speakers, collar microphones for Faculty, Laptops, White Boards and projector with screen.

There are several public lecture halls which have been equipped with a high fidelity video screen, speakers and microphones. The Institute has Video Conferencing feature.
