

August 2010: Three students of the PGP 2009-11 batch cleared professional certification examinations. While Tejaswi TJ and Pavan Kumar S passed the APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) exam, Krishnakanth AN cleared the CPIM module 1 (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) exam.

TAPMI felicitates Student Achievers
Mar 4th, 2010: TAPMI’s student achievers were felicitated on their extra-academic accomplishments in an exclusive ceremony on March 4th 2010, at TAPMI’s campus in Manipal. These students had participated in various business school events such as quizzes, business games, business plans, essays and research papers at various institutions of repute including the IIMs and the IITs across the country, and won numerous awards during the academic year 2009-10. Five of the students felicitated had also won the prestigious Sir Ratan Tata Scholarship. In total, thirty-six students were felicitated during the ceremony for winning in more than seventy competitions. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Brig (Dr.) Somnath Mishra, Director of MIT, Manipal as Chief Guest, and the achievers were honoured with prizes and Certificates of Appreciation. Faculty and staff of TAPMI were present in the occasion.

Feb 2010: Abhijit Pachorkar (Batch of 2008-10) stood second in Shrijan – the national level B-Plan competition organized by IMNU (Institute of Management Nirma University). The competition saw 130+ entries from different B-schools across India. Top 15 teams from IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-I, S. P. Jain, NMIMS, JBIMS, SIBM, IIFT, MICA, IRMA, Sydenham, LIBA and NIRMA participated in the third and final round of presentation.
Feb 2010: Abhijit’s article on 'Rural Entrepreneurship', about bringing in socio-economic development by leveraging on rural entrepreneurship and corporate interface through the SHG (Self Help Groups), was awarded the 1st prize by Agri-Business Club of IIM-A. The article was published in Hyphen-II, the bi-annual Agri-Business Club magazine of IIM-A.
Feb 2010: At Kurukshetra-2010, the annual B-fest of the Manipal Institute of Management (MIM), Chandrashekhar R. Bhure and Priyank Nandkumar Daga of batch of 2008-10 won Chaduranga (B-Plan Competition), while R. Mythreyi and Abhishek Yatin Mehta of 2009-11 stood second in Yaksha Prashne (Business Quiz).
Feb 2010: Abhishek Vyas and Ashwin Murlidhar of the batch of 2008-10 bagged the first prize in the event "SPARSH" (Business Plan development for an NGO) held as a part of IIM Bangalore's annual B-School fest VISTA. There were 3 finalists (TAPMI, NITIE and IIMB) out of 41 entries for the event. In the finals, the team from TAPMI stood first.
Feb 2010: Ujwal Kumar, Chetan Kabra and Amit Kumar of the batch of 2008-10 stood first in Chanakya Niti - the flagship event of Drishti'10 of SIOM, Nasik.
Jan 2010: Abhijit Pachorkar of the batch of 2008-10, was awarded the 'Best paper' prize paper at IFLA 09-10 in the 'Agriculture' vertical. The paper writing contest was organized as a part of INFOCOM 09-10, which is India’s largest congregation of ICT professionals, corporate leaders, academicians and policy makers and is organized by Businessworld, India’s largest selling business magazine. The theme of the contest was ‘Innovations in downturn’. The competition was open to B-school students of India and abroad and required individual competition. The papers went through two rigorous rounds of screening: first, by panel of senior journalists and the second by panel of academicians and corporate leaders across the globe. The best 3 papers were selected in each of the verticals such agriculture, manufacturing, services, banking and financial institutions and hi-tech industry. The competition saw more than 400 papers from first and final year students of various B-schools across the globe. The award includes a cash prize of US $ 200.
Jan 2010: Nitesh R of the batch of 2008-10 successfully cleared the CFA - Level 1 examination conducted by CFA Institute, USA in December 2009. The result for the same was declared on January 27, 2010.
Jan 2010: Abhijit Pachorkar won the 2nd prize in the B-plan contest 'Tarkash' at IBS Bangalore. The competition saw 11 teams in the final round from colleges such as S.P. Jain, SIBM, XIMB, LIBA, Great Lakes, IBS Hyderabad, and Christ College. Besides this, Abhijit bagged the ‘Overall Best Presentation’ prize, having been selected among participants across all verticals of the event such as B-plan, Debate and Paper presentation. Abhijit’s presentation was also complimented by juries as the most ‘in-depth’ and realistically handled B-plan, and a special mention was made about his exhaustive work, and comprehensive and professional presentation.
Jan 2010: Priyank Daga and Jim Kim won the 2nd Prize in the B - Plan competition Udyog, conducted by IRMA, Anand. The other teams who participated in the event were from IIM-A, S.P. JAIN, MANAGE - HYD, IMT – G and the College of Agriculture Management.
Jan 2010: Vivek Didwania, Manish Mahnot, Santosh K Murugan, Nishant C Mohanty and Shreyas Srinivasan of the batch of 2008-10 have been selected for the award of Sir Ratan Tata trust scholarship.
Jan 2010: Ashwani Churiwala of batch of 2008-10 has succesfully cleared his Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Full Examination conducted by Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). The exam was held on the 21st of November, 2009 and the result for the same was declared on January 5, 2010.
Nov 2009:Manish Mahnot, Dheeraj Agarwal, and Kartik Kumar of the batch of 2008-10 stood first in the Shodh-Equity Research Competition organized by IIFT, Delhi defeating the teams from the top B-schools like IIM A, IIM S, IIM L, IIFT, IMI Delhi and FMS. The fierce competition saw more than 50 entries from different B-schools going through multiple rounds of screening and evaluation. The team Rustics from TAPMI won the competition while the runner up was the team from IIM Shillong. The team has been awarded certificates and prize money.
Nov 2009: Ujwal Kumar won the 1st prize in the finance and operations modules in Gladiator – the flagship event of Xpressions 2009, the annual fest of Xavier Inst. of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). The teams from the top B-schools like IIM-C, IIFT, IMI Delhi, Great Lakes and BIM Trichy competed for the coveted trophy in the finals which lasted 4 rounds. The initial selection was based on a business quiz followed by a case study analysis. Ujwal was awarded 2 trophies (for winning finance and operations modules respectively) and a certificate for the same.
Nov 2009: Abhishek Vyas and Sumit Saurabh of the 2009-11 batch won the 2nd prize in PARIJJA, a national level HR paper presentation event held at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Mumbai. The initial selection was based on a white paper on "Managing Global Workforce". A total of 48 entries were made in the first round, of which, 5 teams were called for the final paper presentation on November 13th. Teams from premiere B-schools like the MDI, IMI, TISS and NMIMS, participated in the final round, in which a 15 minute presentation had to be made, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. The winners were awarded cash prizes, gift items and certificates.
JIM KIM & PRIYANK DAGA’S BIOCEM DOES IT AGAIN!!!
Nov 2009: After winning “best Business Plan” awards at colleges such as NITIE and KJSOM, Mumbai and SRM Univ, Chennai, Jim & Priyank’s business plan, BioCem was judged as the Best Business Plan at Alectrona ’09, a National Level B-Plan contest conducted by BIM, Trichy. Five “best plans” were shortlisted for the final presentation, out of more than 125 entries. Other final shortlisted teams were from IIM-A, SIBM, Pune, Great Lakes, Chennai and NIAM, Jaipur.
Nov 2009: Gopinath S of the batch of 2008-10, who was one of the interns of Wipro Summer Experience (WISE) 2009, won the ‘WISE cracker 2009’ award for his project titled ‘Creating a practice deck for Book Publishing segment’. This award is usually given for the best summer project as a token of appreciation to the WISEans who have exhibited exceptional efforts during their tenure of summer internship at Wipro Technologies Ltd.
Jim Kim and Priyank Daga’s BioCem Plan Wins SRM University Best Award
Nov 2, 2009 In a record-breaking series of wins, the BioCem business plan developed by current TAPMI students Jim Kim and Priyank Daga (batch of 2008-10) won a prestigious award at the SRM University, warding off competition from other Indian and foreign B-schools. BioCem promotes an approach to convert garbage into useful energy and is a novel way to create both social and business value.

Oct 2009: Manish Mahnot, of the 2008-10 batch won the 2nd prize at Tatva ‘09, a national level Best Summer Project Competition held at the IMT Ghaziabad on October 30th. More than 150 Students from prestigious B-Schools like the IIMs, XLRI, FMS, IIFT, TISS, IITs and IMT-G participated in the event. The competition was conducted in two phases: i) Executive Summary (Elimination Round) and ii) Final presentations in front of panel of judges consisting of IMT faculties and Industry experts.
Mudra ’09 – SJMSOM IIT-B
Oct ’09: A team consisting of Priyank Daga, Jim Kim & Abhishek Chandak (PGP 2) won the 2nd prize at Mudra ’09, conducted by SJMSOM IITB. The teams were selected on the basis of Equity research report prepared by them. The teams were finally awarded prizes on the basis of their presentation on the research report and their performance on online trading at NCDEX.
RCMMF Case Study
Oct ‘09: Jim Kim (PGP 2) won the 2nd prize in the RCMMF case study conducted by Agri Business Club, IIM-A. The case required suggestions on how to strategically handle labor problems particularly in a Government owned milk co-operative. Also, decisions regarding who should head the management and new investments by the co-operative had to be suggested. Other B-schools that participated in the event include IIM–A, IIM–L, IIM–S, IIM–K, IIFT and NITIE– Mumbai.
Oct 2009: Ameya Manel, Manish Mahnot , Puneet Jain and M Somasundaram of the 2008-10 batch won the 2nd prize in Parakrama ‘09 (an ISO 9001:2000 certified event), a national level strategic management simulation game held by the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Trichy in Chennai. The initial selection was based on an online quiz as the first round was followed by two more rounds, similar to the simulation game played in the finals. 10 teams from different colleges including the IIMs were invited for the final round to be played in Chennai. The final simulation game was played for 3 rounds and teams were ranked on the basis of their cumulative net profit. They were awarded cash prizes and runner up certificates.
Oct 2009: Jim Kim and Priyank Daga of the Batch of 2008-10 (PGP-2), won the 1st prize in the event Le Banquier D'Investissement – ‘Do the Deal’, conducted by Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. The team was shortlisted along with four other teams on the basis of a case study solution submitted in round one. The case study required the participants to act as an investment banker and perform an in-and-out analysis of a probable merger deal.
Jim and Priyank also won two more prizes at NITIE, Mumbai. The first of these was the 1st prize in the B-Plan competition, conducted by NITIE. During this event, the team had to present their business plan in front of an esteemed set of judges after getting shortlisted through round-1. The second was the 2nd prize in the “Elevators-pitch”. Here the students had to present their business idea within two minutes for the judges to analyze the viability of the plan. More than 30 teams from various colleges including the ISB and some of the IIMs, participated in the event.
In the year, 2008-09, TAPMI students participated in several inter-B-school competitions and won prizes in some of them, as listed here:

09, a national level B-school finance competition held by
the N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
The initial selection, which was on the basis of a report on
debt restructuring plan, was followed by a final
presentation in front of an esteemed panel of judges from
the industry on October 3rd, 2009 in Mumbai.
Abhishek and Chetan have been awarded cash prizes & a
trophy.
