Faculty Developement Program on SEM
FDP (Faculty Development Program) on “Structural Equation Modeling using RStudio -Enrich your Publications”
TAPMI is proud to host a FDP (Faculty Development Program) on SEM (Structured Equation Modeling) using R Studio on October 7-8, 2017. SEM has emerged as one of the most powerful approach/tools to look at relationships between data.
The program will be carried out as a workshop by Dr.Kartikeya P. Bolar, an Editorial Board member and Reviewer of Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce, using hands on lab sessions with valid data sets and RStudio. He has 14 years of Academic and Research experience. His Research interests include E-commerce Diffusion, Data Mining, Business Analytics and Technology Adoption. The program is open to Faculty Members and Research Scholars.
Why Structured Equation Modeling (SEM)?
Consider a situation where a series of dependent-independent relationships are examined simultaneously or a situation where the validity of the measure has to be established. These situations are typical in research in most disciplines like psychology, marketing, organizational and information systems research. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) provides you the power to analyze such situations. In research publications use of SEM is considered to be the epitome of rigor.
Several software packages exist for fitting structural equation models like LISREL, Mplus, Mx, EQS and Amos. However either they are not easy to use; and even if you are determined to master its complexity, the cost of the software would be too high to fit the pocket of the institute with adequate number of licenses for entire faculty. What if you have open source software which is easy to use and available to everyone on an individual basis which you can use at will whenever you require? What if you can help teach it to your students? Would you prefer to install it in your laptop and use it at will rather than depend on expensive propriety software? This is the logic for our swinging to R.
Learning Outcomes of the Program
The Programme shall be carried out in a workshop mode using hands on lab sessions with valid data sets and RStudio. After attending the program, the participant will be able to
1. Create structural and measurement models using RStudio
2. Determine the reliability and validity of the constructs
3. Analyze the structural relationships between the constructs
4. Integrate and post the results of the analysis appropriately in a research paper
Who should attend this Program?
Faculty Members who dream of publishing.
Faculty members who dream of teaching analysis using an open source powerful analytical tool which every student can have for free so that they can analyze any situation at any time.
Research Scholars who wish to have seamless access to a tool anytime and anywhere.
An open mind and willingness to learn is all that we look for.
