Prof. Debmallya Chatterjee has obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, following his research related to the application of Fuzzy AHP. (Jan 2014).


Prof. Ajay Kumar Gupta has successfully defended his PhD viva at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. (Jan 2014).


Prof. Debmallay’s paper "Delphi-AHP Mixed Approach in Calibrating Hospital Site Selection" won the third position in the AIMS international Doctoral paper competition 2013 held at IMT Ghaziabad during 21-24th December 2013. This is published in the AIMS international website:

Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan's project titled "Firm Control and Financing Choices in Indian Firms" has been accepted for funding under the NSE-IGIDR CG Research Initiative Scheme. His team, which includes Aditya Jadhav, Ramesh Rao (Oklahoma State) and Bin Srinidhi (University of Texas, Arlington) has been awarded USD 2000. (Oct 2013).


Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan's research paper has won one more funding for a project "Tie-in-Agreement in IPOs; Evidence from the Indian IPOs Market" has been accepted for funding under the NSE-IGIDR CG Research Initiative Scheme for USD 2000. He has collaborated with Ghon Rhee (University of Hawaii) and Suman Neupane (Griffith University, Australia).   (Oct 2013)


Dr. R C Natarajan was adjudged as Best Director, Prof. Ajith Kumar awarded Best Professor in Operations Management and Prof. S R Vishwanath awarded Best Professor in Financial Management in Hindustan Unilever- BSA- Dewang Mehta Business School Awards held in Mumbai during October 2013.


Dr. Simon George was awarded Best Professor in Marketing Management and Dr. Ganes Pandya was awarded Best Professor in Operations Management at the Star Group- Dainik Bhaskar- National Education Leadership Awards held in Mumbai during October 2013.


Dr. R C Natarajan was awarded Best Director Award- South India at the event organised by MBA by Choice- Discovery Education Media Pvt. Ltd in Delhi on January 21, 2013.


Dr. H S Srivatsa received the Best Placement Head Award- All India at the event organised by MBA by Choice- Discovery Education Media Pvt. Ltd in Delhi on January 21, 2013.


Mr. Amit Kumar Pansari and Prof. Ajith Kumar have won the 3rd prize in the International Case Masters competition  conducted by IIMA for their case, “Staff Scheduling at SAP Labs”.


Prof. Raghunath Rudran awarded Best Operations Faculty in 20th Dewang Mehta B-School Affaire 2012.


Mr. Unnikrishnan Nair(PGP2) and Prof. Vinod Madhavan’s paper, “ Hangout’ with Doctors – Consumers’ Expectations from the Healthcare Practitioners through the Social Media and the Internet: An Empirical Study in Manipal ”   has been accepted for publication and presentation in the Nirma International Conference on Management, 2013 (NICOM 2013) at the Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad.


Dr. K Manjunath, Chief Librarian at TAPMI has been chosen for AIMS International Outstanding Librarian Award – 2012.  This award will be conferred on him at a ceremony on January 06, 2013 at the 10th AIMS International Conference on Management to be held in IIM-Bangalore.


Mr. Unnikrishnan Nair of PGP2 and Prof. Vinod Madhavan’s paper 'Bookmarking the Doctor: Social Media Usage Amongst Doctors & Consumers for Health Care' has been accepted for presentation at the prestigious AIMS International Conference to be held at IIM Bangalore, 6th – 9th January 2013.


Mr. Sidharth Panigrahi of PGP2 and Prof. Vinod Madhavan’s paper "A study of internet search behavior of engineering students in Manipal"  has been accepted for publication and presentation in the NICOM: Nirma International Conference on Management, 2012.


Prof. Siva Kumar (jointly with Prof. Ajith Kumar) received an award for Case Writing on Innovation from ISB-Hyderabad at the AIMS Convention on 27 August.

Prof. Sanjay Choudhari received PhD in Operations Management  from SJMSOM, IIT Bombay on Apil 26, 2012.  His topic of the thesis  was “Configuration of Manufacturing Strategy Decisions in Production Systems”.


Prof. Gururaj H Kidiyoor, has been conferred with “ Best Professor in Marketing Management” award by World Education Congress 2012 in Mumbai on June 29.


Dr. Sulagna Mukherjee has been selected for the AIMS International Outstanding Young Woman Management Researcher Award for her exceptional research credentials.


Prof. R.C. Natarajan has been inducted as a Member in the Board of Management Studies of Siva Sivani Institute of Management, Secunderabad.


Prof. S R Vishwanath has been included in Marquis Who’s Who in the World. This is one of the best known academic distinctions in the world. Other academics included in Marquis Who’s Who from India include Prof Amartya Sen and Prof Satya Das of Indian Statistical Institute.


Prof. S R Vishwanath case on Satyam Computer Services has been selected for the Final round after two round of Review at the NACRA conference and has been nominated for the NACRA-CMA Best Governance case Award.


Prof. Sulagna Mukherjee holds a Ph.D degree in the area of Corporate Finance from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. The title of her thesis is "Corporate Capital Structure in India: Trends, Issues and Determinants".


Prof. Sabuj Kumar Mandal successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled “Energy and Productivity Growth: A Study of Indian Cement Industry” on Year 2010 at Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore through University of Mysore.


September 2010: Prof. Sabuj Kumar Mandal was invited to be a reviewer of the academic journal, Energy Policy, published by Elsevier Science.


Sep, 2009: Prof. Chowdari Prasad’s paper titled “Financial Inclusion in India – Yet another Ritual or An Integrated Tool for Poverty Alleviation?”, co-authored with Dr B Yerram Raju, Director, PRMIA, Hyderabad, and presented at the International Conference held in December 2008 by Justice KS Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte, was published in the July 2009 issue of Nitte Management Review.   Prof. Chowdari Prasad was also invited to be on the Editorial Board of the “Advances in Management” Journal.


Aug, 2009:  Prof. Gururaj Kidiyoor successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled “Perceived Risk in the adoption of high technology product innovations in business buying,” on August 27, 2009 at Manipal University.  Dr. Kidiyoor has been teaching at TAPMI for over 10 years. Prior to joining TAPMI, he worked in TVS Electronics, Wipro, and Digital Equipment in the areas of marketing, sales and distribution. His academic interests include Business to Business Marketing, Personal Selling, Sales Negotiations, Marketing of High-Tech Products.


Prof. ( Dr.) Vasudev Rao, our Director received the national award for “Best teacher in management for South India” at the B-schools award function on August 10 at Le –Meridian, Bangalore. Based on his credentials and background he was selected by a group of industry leaders who acknowledged his contributions to the industry and academics. Prof. Vasudev Rao, as we all know, is widely acknowledged as an expert in Entrepreneurship and Project management areas. The award was instituted by the Deccan Herald group. 


Contribution to Management Case Studies:


"About 150 cases and other teaching materials from TAPMI have been registered with the European Case Clearing House (ECCH). These materials are outputs of MIP based on the collaborative effort of the students, faculty guide and the industry guide. Recent information from ECCH shows that these materials have been accessed widely for use by faculty in business schools."
